THE RE-CIG® PROCESS

SIEVE
SELECTION OF THE SUBJECT
The first step in our process is sifting, which involves removing foreign particles such as ash, tobacco residue, and any unwanted debris. We ensure that only pure cigarette butts are included in the next step.
2.
WASHING
DEEP DECONTAMINATION
The filters undergo a double wash cycle at variable temperatures to separate the paper from the filter material and eliminate harmful substances. The process water is entrusted to a certified partner for purification, closing the loop on environmental impact.
3.
DRYING AND THERMOPLASTIFICATION
THE BIRTH OF THE POLYMER
After completely eliminating moisture, the filters enter the hot mixing stage at a controlled temperature. This is where the material transforms into a uniform, pollutant-free plastic granule, which is then granulated. This secondary raw material is ready to re-enter the production cycle.
4.
END OF WASTE
FROM WASTE TO NEW MATERIAL, THE Re-CA
The process culminates with the legal and technical transformation of the material. With the issuance of the declaration of conformity and End of Waste, we officially close the loop: the material is purified, tested, and ready to be repurposed.

Re-Cig is an innovative company that recovers and recycles cigarette butts, transforming them into useful resources through a sustainable industrial process. We offer a comprehensive service that includes the supply of Smoker Point ashtrays, secure storage containers, and quarterly collection of cigarette butts for recycling.
Smoker Point ashtrays are specifically designed for recycling cigarette butts. Each ashtray holds 1.500 butts and features a secure locking system with a key-operated grille. This design prevents other waste from entering and streamlines the collection process.
The Re-Cig service is free for the initial supply of Smoker Points. There are no upfront costs, but a fixed fee is applied to cover all phases of the service, from collection to recycling of cigarette butts. The cost depends on the quantity and frequency of the service requested.
The service includes quarterly collection of cigarette butts. However, you can customize the collection frequency based on the needs of your company or administration.
After collection, the cigarette butts are transported to our recycling plant, where they are processed to extract cellulose acetate, the plastic material found in the filters, which is then recycled. Our innovative process transforms waste into a resource, reducing environmental impact.
