Through collaboration with organizations such as the Val di Non Community and Mantova Ambiente, the Re-Cig system has demonstrated that the solution lies not simply in installing waste bins, but in creating a true ecosystem for local awareness.

Case studies: comparing territories of excellence

1. Community of Val di Non (Trentino)

An area of ​​excellence that brings together 20 municipalities, where protecting the natural landscape is a priority.

• Waste recovered (2025): 91,00 kg.
• Units removed from the environment: over 300.000 cigarettes.
• Produced material (Re-ca): 35,00 kg.
• CO2 avoided: 213,00 kg.

2. Mantua Environment (Mantua)

A coordinated management effort involving 15 municipalities in the Mantua area, focused on the efficiency of the integrated service.

• Waste recovered (2025): 121,00 kg.
• Units removed from the environment: over 400.000 cigarettes.
• Produced material (Re-ca): 47,00 kg.
• CO2 avoided: 292,00 kg.

The strategy: from the Municipality to the Collection Center

1. Domestic delivery: In addition to street recycling stations, residents can also drop off cigarette butts collected at home directly at collection centers. This logistical innovation transforms citizens from passive users to active participants in the circular economy, drastically reducing the burden of unsorted waste.
2. Fighting littering with the Third Sector: Collaboration with third-sector organizations to organize eco-walks and clean-up days. These activities visually demonstrate to the community how cigarette butts are the most common type of waste in nature, fostering profound cultural change.
3. Education in schools: The project is reaching schools, teaching younger generations that cigarette butts are not small and harmless, but rather technological resources if properly managed through proper disposal.
